ABOUT NIAAP
The Northern Territory cattle industry pioneered live exports in two Southeast Asia. The Northern Territory breeds tropically adapted, high-quality cattle adapted to south east asian conditions. The NTCA is continuing to encourage, through industry and government, the development of longer term relationships in the region that foster good and sustainable practice in animal welfare and production in order to cater for growing demand and efforts to improve local production and beef self-sufficiency, particularly in Indonesia. As part of this ongoing relationship the NTCA actively promotes and supports initiatives to build greater mutual understanding for growth and development. In March 2013 the Northern Territory Cattlemen’s Association (NTCA) signed an MOU with the Indonesian Society for Animal Science to establish a 3 year Indonesia Australia Pastoral Industry Student Program which builds on a very successful 2012 program. The 2013 program involves 16 students from 6 universities and will include stations in the NT and for the first time 1 station in WA. (http://ntca-studentsprogram.com).
