Program and Activities

This Summer Course Program was delivered using two types of learning activities: synchronous and asynchronous activities. Synchronous through direct meeting with zoom platform and asynchronous by using e-LOK platform.

The programs had been successfully completed in 15 days consisting of:

Day 1 at 12 July for Introduction sessions. In this session, participants play a game to get to know each other and then continued with learning Indonesian culture and language within a very short time. After this session they got a take home assignment to sing an Indonesian Song by NIDJI with the title Laskar Pelangi. The committee has gathered all their beautiful voices and we edited their singing.

 

Day 2, 3, and 4 we have lecture sessions. We have 5 lecture series with the topics about Animal/Livestock Industry Development in Southeast Asia, Integrated Livestock and Agriculture/Environment, Agricultural Extension and Education Toward Sustainable Development, Animal/Agricultural Tourism and Environmental Issues, and Challenges of Young Generation in Agricultural/Livestock Industry. Morados Camiguin Polytechnic State College, Dr. Jesus C. Fernandez (SEAMEO REFCON). After this sessions participants made a short summary about the lectures.

We have a virtual Farm tour in Day  to PT Bayu Berlian Makmur, Sragen farm that focusing on broiler chicken farming, CV Sumber Berkat, Magelang, a layer chicken farming company, and PT Madhar Mandhava Manggala, Bantul, a catlle and goat farming company. We provide participants with the video of the farms and companies that we invite during the tour.

On Sundays we have no face to face meetings, so participants can take a break or finishing their assignments.

Day 8 until Day 14, we had some Laboratory tours and invited the head of departments in the Faculty of Animal Science to present about their departments’ profiles and current research interests. We also had some sessions for participants to have discussions on the breakout rooms. The topics suggested were about agriculture and culture in their countries. For independent learning students must access eLok to see some videos and quizzes. We also prepared for them some videos about city tour in Yogyakarta so that they can enjoy the beauty of Yogyakarta even though not by visiting the sites directly.

As the final examination, all participants were grouped into 14 groups consisting of 5 – 6 participants from different countries to present about 5 selected topics from the committee.

During the Farewell and Closing Ceremony on Day 15, we invited them to present their cultural performances. We also announce the awardees during this program to appreciate their great enthusiasm and activeness in attending this virtual program.

All participants who have attended 70% of the attendance and participate actively by submitting assignments and quizzes in eLOK received certificate of completion and academic transcript. They were graded based on their activeness during face to face meetings and independent learning through eLOK.
