The Gadjah Mada International Fellowship (GMIF) program is a scholarship offered by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to international students coming from, but not limited to, ASEAN member countries (excluding Indonesia), South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and other countries that manage to demonstrate the need of financial assistance.
This program is dedicated for designated full-time and dual degree Master and Doctoral degree by coursework and research. The purpose of GMIF program is to encourage potential candidates with excellent academic performance who wish to pursue Master and Doctoral Program in any relevant and agreed field. Those with specific competence such as researchers, policy makers or professionals will be prioritized in the application.
Number of Fellowship
The number of fellowship offered for GMIF Batch 3 are:
- 15 fellowships of full-time master program
- 10 fellowships of dual degree master program
- 5 fellowships of doctoral degree program
Program Arrangement and Application
The GMIF Program covers:
- Waived tuition fee (2 semesters for Double Degree Program, 4 semesters for Master Program and 6 semesters for Doctoral Program)
- Living allowance and housing expenses according to Yogyakarta rate (2 semesters for Double Degree Program, 4 semesters for Master Program and 6 semesters for Doctoral Program)
- 2 months of Indonesian Language Program (INCULS) Intensive Program or 1 semester of INCULS Regular Program
- A round-trip international airfare (economy class)
- Health insurance during the fellowship program
- Thesis research fund of Rp10.000.000 for Master Program and Rp15.000.000 for Doctoral Program
Eligibility
- Must be accepted for admission to master program or doctoral program (regular, taught in Bahasa Indonesia) in UGM for the 2020/2021 academic year (start in August 2020)
- Must have enrolled in home university for at least 1 semester for dual degree master program applicant
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree for master program applicant or Master’s degree for doctoral program applicant in Engineering, Science, Medicine/Health, Geography, Agriculture, Forestry, Animal Science, Economics, Law, Social Sciences and Humanity, or related fields
- Excellent Bachelor Degree academic record (GPA of at least 3.0 on 4.0 GPA scale) for master program applicant
- Good proficiency in English (score of at least 500 for TOEFL or 5.0 of IELTS or equivalent)
- Below 30 years-old for master degree program applicant
- Must have a clear research plan with joint supervision, specific plan for joint publication, and plan for thesis defence for dual degree master program applicant
- Dissertation proposal for doctoral program applicant
- Provide supporting documents required
How To Apply
- Register online at the UGM admission system (Online Application for Foreign Student) and print the application form generated by the system. Your application number is printed on the form.
