Introduction

Universitas Gadjah Mada proudly provides a unique and truly international summer experience which encourage intellectual exploration of the higher academic quality. This program provides you with the fantastic opportunity to increase your intercultural competence and expand your network of international friends and connections. Universitas Gadjah Mada is one of the world’s leading research institution and the highest rank university in Indonesia and accredited A (excellent) by The National Higher Education. Faculty of Animal Science UGM is also a globally recognized institution that obtain International Certification by AUN-QA dan International Accreditation ASIIN (European standard for Program Accreditation). We offer you students from all over the world to participate in our Joint Short Course Program with Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU) in the heart of Javanese culture, one of the safest, most comfortable and friendliest cities in Indonesia.

This Joint short course program is the program that offers you as international students who are interested in agriculture and its related fields, a great experience with fantastic activities such as lectures, cultural activities, excursion, community services with locals, and agricultural visitation in Yogyakarta.

This 2018 program will be hosted by Faculty of Animal Science and Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada.

Program Description

  • Indonesian Language and Culture : Our team of instructors will help you to learn Bahasa Indonesia and become familiar with the local blend of Indonesian multi-cultures in this short period of time, within a supportive framework.
  • Exploring Javanese Culture : Our program offers a series of English based lectures and field trips that allow you to explore specific environmental and sociocultural aspects of Javanese, visit ancient culture environment such as Borobudur (the biggest Buddhism temple in the world, which was built in 9th century), making Batik (the traditional patterns), and traditional dance learning experience.
  • Outdoor learning: Livestock and Agricultural Activities: Field trips give you a direct understanding of rural livestock and agricultural activities of Javanese, while other trips are organized outside of Yogyakarta for an in-depth exploration of our diverse nation.
  • Class Room Lectures : Some theories and principles in animal science and agriculture are delivered by Professors who are experts in this field.
  • International Buddy : Each program offers a number of well-trained UGM students who can provide support for any problem you may encounter during your summer program.

Program Fee

We receive about 20 participants who are granted by their institution/private with all inclusive program fee (exclude international and domestic airfare):

Partner University: USD 450/participant

Non Partner University: 500 USD/participant

Indonesian Participant: IDR 2,000,000/participant

We offer a simple one-time payment for the entire of program expenses. The only extra money needed throughout your stay in Yogyakarta would be for personal spending.

Registration fee covers:

1. Accommodation (twin sharing) during the program:
Check in: 8 July, Check out: 21 July
*Registration fee for Indonesian participants does not cover accommodation fee
2. Daily meals (3 times meals)
3. Program and courses
4. Transportation during program
5. Cultural activities and excursion
6. Certificate and course kit
7. Welcome and farewell dinner

Important date

Announcement of summer course program: 1-30 May 2017

Deadline for application submission: 11 June 2018

Notification of acceptance: 2 days after submission

Registration payment: 15 May – 15 June 2018

Arrival to Yogyakarta: 8 July 2018

Departure from Yogyakarta: 21 July 2018

  1. Fill in the Application form
  2. The administration will verify your application and please submit the following documents through email oia.fapet@ugm.ac.id. with subject  AAACU Study Tour Program 2018 Application:
  • Passport copy: colored, valid within 8 months since the program begin
  • Profile Picture: colored, white background
  • Letter of Recommendation from University/Faculty/Academic Supervisor

Activity Schedule

8th July: Arrival to Yogyakarta, Check in Hotel

9th July: Welcoming Ceremony, introduction of the program, campus tour, Welcoming Dinner

10th July: Course 1, 2, and 3

11st July: Course 4, 5, and 6

12nd July: Outing and farm visit

13th July: university’s center of agriculture innovation visit

14th July: clay industry visit

15th July: Trip to Borobudur

16th July: Trip to Keraton (Sultan Palace), Malioboro Street, traditional dance experience and making Batik

17th July: Visit goat farm and volcano museum

18th July: Community service and Javanese cooking class

19th July: Workshop on experiences during program & cultural night

20th July: Free time/Shopping

21th July: Check out from the hotel, leaving for home countries
